Barnsley fullback Carl Dickinson hopes to have a future at parent club Stoke City.
Dickinson has been outstanding on-loan at Barnsley this season.
"I've been loving it up there," he told The Sentinel. "I feel as if I've got sharper and stronger as the games have gone by. I'm there until Boxing Day, but I haven't got a clue what will happen then.
"I'd definitely love to come back and play for Stoke, but what will happen will happen.
"If I do move on, then so be it, but I've always said I'd prefer to stay at Stoke and play here."
Potters teammate Ryan Shotton has impressed so much at both right-back and centre-half for Barnsley that he's having to order a new drinks' cabinet.
"He's doing brilliantly," says Dickinson. "He's got the man-of-the-match award in nearly every home game and must have five or six bottles of champagne by now.
"It's the first time he's played in the Championship (following a loan spell at League One Tranmere last season) and he's taken to it like a duck to water. He's showing people why he's tipped to do big things here at Stoke - and I don't think it will be too long before he is being chucked in."
