Stoke defender Shawcross grateful to Man Utd coaches

Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross admits he still keeps in touch with many of his former Manchester United youth teammates.

"Sir Alex (Ferguson) has been a big influence on my career," he told Stoke City World. "I owe a lot to him and all the coaching staff too.

"I still keep in touch with Fraizer Campbell who's on loan at Tottenham and Johnny Evans who might be involved.

"The others have left now but there is a few backroom staff who I'm looking forward to seeing.

"I made two sub appearances in the Carling Cup, cherished memories, but I look to the future now with Stoke City."
