The People says Faye had to make a desperate dash to Senegal to get a new passport - or face being kicked out of the country.
The powerful defender discovered that he needed fresh documentation as he tried to find a club to join before the transfer window shut.
Faye could have been barred from returning to the country if he had not got the problem sorted out.
