Stoke defender Edwards puts pen to paper on new long-term deal

Stoke City rising star Tom Edwards has signed a new four-year deal with the club.

The defender only signed his first professional contract a couple of months ago.

But after being included in Stoke's pre-season matches, Potters boss Mark Hughes has chosen to reward the 18-year-old.

"It's always pleasing to see a local lad doing well," chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website.

"Tom's progressed into the first-team squad and Mark has included him in a number of pre-season matches. He's earned this new contract."
