Stoke dealt major blow with Bojan injury

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that Bojan Krkic has sustained a serious knee injury.

The Spanish forward was forced off during the first half of Stoke's 4-1 FA Cup fourth round win over Rochdale on Monday night and it has come to light that he has suffered cruciate ligament damage in his left knee.

Scans on Tuesday revealed the damage with the club confirming Bojan would now undergo surgery to repair the problem area.

Hughes was devastated for the former Barcelona man who was starting to hit his straps in English football following a slow beginning to life at the Britannia Stadium.

"It's bitterly disappointing for the club but even more so for Bojan himself as he was making such a big impact on the Premier League and clearly enjoying his football," he told the club's official website.

"We wish him a speedy recovery."

Since arriving at Stoke, Bojan has made 18 appearances in all competitions which have yielded five goals including the opener in the comfortable triumph over Rochdale.
