Stoke City's deal for Michael Owen is in doubt.

The Daily Mail says Tony Pulis's side had already submitted their list of 25 players to the Premier League and now need permission to replace one of those with the former Manchester United striker.

The rulebook does not cover such an unprecedented situation and the PL board are now considering whether to allow him to be included among the 25.

Midfielder Michael Tonge, 29, is being considered as the player to be sacrificed.
