Stoke City remain in talks with Real Zaragoza over a permanent deal for winger Jermaine Pennant.
Pennant is due back in Spain on January 1.
He wants to stay at Stoke and City chairman Peter Coates said: "These things tend to take quite a bit of time to resolve.
"But we are still working on it and hoping to bring it to a satisfactory conclusion."
