Gerry Francis is still to make a decision over his coaching future at Stoke City.
Francis is wanted by Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear and told Sky Sports: "I have been in touch with Newcastle, but I am really enjoying being at Stoke.
"I will make a definite decision in the next few days. It's an honour to be offered something at Newcastle but Stoke is a fantastic club.
"It is great being back in football and I am really enjoying working with Tony Pulis.
"We have played Liverpool, Chelsea and Portsmouth since I joined and that is as tough as it gets.
"There is a real togetherness at the club and there are some very talented players. Hopefully the club will stay in the Premier League."
