Stoke City are in talks for Amiens defensive midfielder Guessouma Fofana.

L'Equipe says Amiens have rejected Stoke's initial bid for Fofana.

Stoke have sent a first offer to the club of the Somme but it was considered insufficient. The Premier League club is very interested in Fofana, despite his limited experience of the professional world.

Fofana joined Amiens from Lyon Duchere in 2015 and helped them win the third division title and promotion last season despite suffering a thigh injury that restricted him to 25 appearances. He has also played at centre-half and right-back.
