Stoke City chief scout Lindsay Parsons has revealed he recommended Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor to the Potters as a young player.
At the time, manager Tony Pulis was working for the club's then-Icelandic owners.
Parsons told the Gloucestershire Echo: "I remember one of the first names I gave to Tony at Stoke was a lightning-quick, 6ft 4in striker called (Emmanuel) Adebayor, but we were in the Championship at the time and we were told the fee of £3m was too much."
