Stoke chief Scholes says plans in place to bring through academy talent

Stoke City chief Tony Scholes says they're eager to bring through academy talent.

Scholes feels they're close to getting homespun players into the first team.

"You've got internationals sat on the bench and at times internationals sat in the stands.

“So the bar is very high for the youngsters and that's why it's important we have proper development plans in place, which includes time with the under-21s and time training with the first team.

Mark Hughes and his team are very conscious of that and always make sure there's a few under-21 players training with them every day.

“But it also includes time out on loan to other clubs, whether or not in the Championship, League One, League Two or even abroad at times."
