Stoke chief Scholes praises Kightly after Burnley move

Burnley have completed the signing of Stoke City winger Michael Kightly.

Kightly moves to Turf Moor for £1.5 million.

Potters chief executive Tony Scholes said: "Michael did very well at Burnley last season. He was happy there, and as part of the loan deal we had a provision that if they did get promoted there was the ability for a transfer to follow.

"I'm pleased the deal has gone through. It's good for us, good for Michael and good for Burnley.

"It's likely not to be the only player we see leave this summer. We have brought four players in already, and that means we've got quite a large squad at the moment.

"We've got good players on the fringes who want to play football. Those players who didn't play as much as they liked last season might be looking at players we brought in and think they might be in a similar position.

"Those are the kind of players who might move on."
