Stoke chief Rudge: Wilson can play way back into Trap plans

Stoke City football chief John Rudge feels Marc Wilson has plenty to play for next season.

Rudge sees Wilson breaking back into Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland squad.

"Trapattoni stayed with those players who got them into the Euros," Rudge told The Sentinel, "but I would think Marc's chances would now open up when it comes to preparing for the next World Cup.

"They are going to have to re-assess their players, regarding the age of some of them, and they haven't got a massive amount to choose from in the Premier League.

"He's disappointed he's been overlooked and I bet Marc would have loved to have been out there when he was watching Ireland not having the best of tournaments."
