Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has ruled out stepping down. Coates, 75, last night ended talk he would hand over control to his son John — which had fuelled rumours of Tony Pulis’ exit.

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has ruled out stepping down.

Coates, 75, last night ended talk he would hand over control to his son John — which had fuelled rumours of Tony Pulis’ exit.

Coates, who will meet Pulis this week, said: “I have no plans to step down and can assure you I will not be going anywhere.

“We have a scheduled meeting with Tony, — something we do after every season.”
