Stoke City chairman Peter Coates is ready to spend big this summer.

Coates admitted Stoke could break the club transfer record set 12 months ago when they signed striker Dave Kitson from Reading for £5.5m.

He said: "It is possible. I'm not looking to break it, but it depends on what deals we can do.

"We are after good players and (the value) of deals we do depends on what players we can bring in."
