Stoke chairman Coates: No pressure to sell Begovic

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates says there's no pressure to sell goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Coates has 'a gut feeling' that Begovic will remain in Staffordshire which could result in a change of scenery for 20-year-old Jack Butland.

Coates told The Sentinel: "We took Jack because we thought we might be approached about Asmir.

"But we would be very happy for him to be playing for us next season.

"If Asmir stays, as we expect, we would try to get Jack to a Premier League or Championship club on loan to build up his experience.

"We believe we've got another very good young keeper waiting in the wings."

On Begovic he added: "If the top European clubs come in for him, and the money is good and we are satisfied, we would do it.

"But there's no pressure to sell."
