Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has been made a vice-president of the FA in recognition of his work for the game's governing body over the past two decades.
Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Footballer Supporters' Federation and a life-long Stoke fan, has paid tribute to Coates after sitting on the FA Council with the Stoke chairman.
"I congratulate Peter on his appointment," said Clarke. "He has made a valuable contribution to the work of the FA based on wisdom and common sense.
"I also appreciate the support he has given to me on the FA Council."
