Stoke City chairman Peter Coates says they must build on their victory over Manchester United.
He believes Saturday's 2-1 win - Stoke's first in the league against United for 29 years - provided a significant morale boost after the club had temporarily slipped into the bottom three just before kick-off.
"I am delighted, especially given the circumstances," he told The Sentinel, "and it couldn't have come at a better time.
"For supporters, management, players, everybody, it was a nice lift and a chance to get the rest of the season going.
"It was a great football occasion for us - and one we will no doubt be recalling for many years to come.
"It has been a long time since we beat Manchester United, so that makes it especially pleasing, and hopefully this provides a nice springboard."
