Stoke City chairman and FA councillor Peter Coates says he's delighted Fabio Capello has committed to a new deal through to 2012.
Coates is confident that Capello will get the best out of his 23-man squad. Capello has managed AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and Juventus, winning nine league championships as well as the 1994 Champions League with Milan.
He told The Sentinel: "You try to influence and to lobby to get your view across and I was in favour of Fabio Capello.
"He is qualified and capable, and we couldn't ask for more than that.
"You look at what people have achieved and there is a case for saying the job suits an experienced man, someone in their 60s who has been through the mill in football.
"His CV is excellent. But if he can't do it then the worry is, who can?"
