Stoke chairman Coates happy for fans to wind-up Arsenal boss Wenger

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates was delighted with the passion shown by fans in victory over Arsenal.

Coates praised supporters for their largely good-humoured chanting during the Arsenal match when shouting the likes of "2-0 to the rugby team" in response to Arsene Wenger's early-season "rugby" jibe at Stoke.

"I thought it was a reasonable point to make," he said approvingly, "and a point that was certainly well made.

"They certainly got the message across. I didn't join in myself, but I listened and smiled."
