Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has hailed the club's passionate support.
Coates says last season's 12th-placed finish raised expectations, particularly after City then spent around £18m in the summer. But the chairman has been impressed with the support for the team this season.
He told The Sentinel: "Realistically, last year was going to be special because we had been away from the top flight for so long.
"I think that would happen at any stadium. But there's still a great atmosphere at our games.
"We just want to emphasise the importance of keeping it going because it is a big factor for us. We are pleased we get it and grateful for it.
"We certainly don't take it for granted. You have to keep the supporters with you and that is what we try to do."
