Stoke City chairman Peter Coates was delighted to see Ryan Shotton make his home debut on the weekend.
The fullback has been with Stoke since he was nine years of age.
Coates told The Sentinel: "I thought he did very well and it was encouraging.
"He was probably a bit nervy to begin with and that is understandable, but he seemed to settle down after that.
"It is always nice to see a local boy come through and, like any club, we are always looking to develop such talent."
