Stoke chairman Coates confirms Lambert & Cartwright staying put

Stoke City are likely to retain the services of manager Paul Lambert and director of recruitment Mark Cartwright regardless of what happens to the club at the end of the season.

The Potters are currently in 19th position on the standings and four points adrift of safety with just three games remaining.

When discussing the managerial situation at the club, chairman Peter Coates said: "Paul is under contract and there are no plans to change.

"We haven't been winning games because we haven't been scoring goals. It's not his fault that we haven't got a goalscorer.

"You must remember we had Jese at great cost and Saido Berahino at great cost, but they haven't performed for us."
