Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association.
The 76-year old Potters chief is in hot water after backing manager Mark Hughes' comments referring to referee bias in the November 1 draw with West Ham United.
In relation to a two-footed challenge from Alex Song on Mame Biram Diouf which went unpunished, Coates said: "There does seem to be a bias towards other teams.
"You always feel that because we have a good crowd that gets behind the team, referees seem to think. I will show them who's in charge here.
"Perhaps it's a macho thing."
Coates, who has also been charged for bringing the game into disrepute, has until November 24 to respond to the charges.
