Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has slammed Robbie Savage for his comments about the club not spending too much money this summer.
The Potters have brought in six new players to the club so far but most of the arrivals have either been on loans or free transfers.
He told Radio Stoke: "What does the signing say about Stoke City? It says we have got a lot of Premier League money and we can pay big wages and big loan fees. These loan players can be very expensive and this idea that we don't spend money is for the birds!
"The media, managers, coaches and players know nothing about football finance. You should start from that premise before you get the likes of Robbie Savage talking rubbish. I can assure you that we spend plenty. Too much!
"I know fans always want us to spend more and the media urge them on, the coaches urge them on but someone has to pay the bill."Article 8
