Stoke City captain Ryan Shawcross has welcomed the quality of their summer signings.
City boss Tony Pulis will unveil Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jermaine Pennant and Marc Wilson for Monday's clash with Aston Villa.
"I was surprised players of that calibre have come here. They are top notch," Shawcross told The Sentinel.
"For us to get players of that calibre shows how far we've come and shows the chairman is backing the manager to get players at the top end.
"Marc Wilson is also a good signing for us ... and it's good to see the old man back now that Salif Diao has re-signed.
"He signs late most years so he can avoid the running in pre-season, but he adds a lot to the squad and the team. Since I came here, he's given me a lot of fantastic advice."
