Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is ready to break the bank for Cardiff City winger Joe Ledley.
The Sun says Pulis is poised to smash Stoke's transfer record with a £6million January swoop for Ledley.
Boss Pulis has been promised the cash by chairman Peter Coates as he steps up his mission to keep the Potters in the Premier League.
He shattered the club's record fee when splashing £5.5m on Reading striker Dave Kitson during the summer.
But he failed to prise Ledley, 21, away from Ninian Park after having a £5m bid rejected by Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale on transfer-deadline day.
The Welsh international is desperate to play in the top flight and an improved offer may turn Ridsdale's head.
Pulis said: "The chairman has been very supportive and we're trying to find players we need that can do us a job.
"If the deal is right for the club, the money is there for me.
"The chairman knows I'm not a dope and will not bring in stupid players. He will listen to options and is a good football man."
