Stoke boss Pulis yet to decide on Carew deal

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is yet to make a decision on the future of striker John Carew.

The Sentinel says the odds on Carew remaining for next season are also lengthening as manager Pulis reviews his summer spending plans.

Carew's future whereabouts could drag on for several weeks as Pulis keeps his options open, while the Norwegian international waits to see what alternative interest materialises here and in Europe.

The 31-year-old striker, who signed on loan from Aston Villa in January, becomes a free agent at the end of June.

He bagged two goals in his nine starts and four substitute appearances at Stoke to leave the jury out on the prospects of a long-term deal.

The club's reluctance to speak about a new contract, together with the manager's desire for fresh pace and guile in attack, suggests Carew will remain surplus to his long-term requirements.
