Stoke City boss Tony Pulis won't sell goalkeeper Asmir Begovic on the cheap.
Potters No.1 Begovic this week admitted he expects to be "sold in the summer" - with Manchester United leading the chase for the £15m-rated goalkeeper.
But Pulis said: "There was no thought in my mind we were bringing Butland in just in case Begovic went.
"If Manchester United - or someone else - comes in and offers an enormous amount of money, we would have to look at it.
"But I haven't brought (Jack) Butland in because of that.
"If it comes to next season and we've still got Jack, Asmir and Thomas Sorensen and we feel Jack is not ready, he'll be loaned out again. We'd rather him play than kick his heels."
