Stoke boss Pulis: We wanted Arsenal whizkid Oxlade-Chamberlain

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis admits he fancied signing Arsenal whizkid Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the close season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been the latest youngster to shine for the Gunners - a player Pulis has revealed was on his radar over the summer before the 18-year-old midfielder - son of former Potters and England winger Mark Chamberlain - completed his move to the London club from Southampton.

"We were well aware of the situation, but when you've got Manchester United, Arsenal and the likes chasing him, you understand where you are," Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke.

"The kid is a future England star and I think he could even go to Euro 2012 if he plays enough games. He's that good."
