Stoke boss Pulis warns Man Utd off Shawcross

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis says they're under no pressure to sell Ryan Shawcross.

Manchester United sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to watch their former trainee in Stoke's draw at Wigan on Saturday.

United sold England prospect Shawcross to Stoke for £1m in January 2008 and had a buy-back clause inserted into the deal, while Liverpool and Spurs have also been long-term admirers.

But Pulis said last night: "We are under no pressure to sell and Ryan is somebody the chairman will not contemplate leaving.

"Ryan could not be happier here and we've also got him on a very good long-term contract.

"Obviously if we are offered ridiculous money then any club would have to look at it. But we've not had any offers and we wouldn't welcome any."
