Stoke City boss Tony Pulis says Mamady Sidibe deserves his new one-year contract.

Pulis says the club has a responsibility to look after Sidibe as he recovers from the latest in a long line of serious injuries following last October's dislocated knee.

"This is a club that has always tried to give as much back to a player who has given much to the club," he told The Sentinel.

"Mama's contribution over the last five years shouldn't be forgotten and I think we have a reputation for not forgetting such people."
