Stoke City boss Tony Pulis remains hopeful of adding to his squad.
The Potters boss has recruited Jonathan Woodgate on a free transfer this summer but has made it known he would like "four or five" signings during the close season.
This has led to him being linked with a number of players including Peter Crouch, Cameron Jerome, Scott Dann, and Wilson Palacios amongst others.
But Pulis has insisted he is not prepared to pay over the odds for any of his targets and is aiming for value for money.
"We're desperately keen to get a quite a few more in but we'll do it on our budget," he said.
"We've been linked with everybody but we'll try and do our business with other football clubs and you hope things will drop for you."
