Stoke City manager Tony Pulis was thrilled that his side recorded their 41st point of the season to see them move away from the relegation struggle.
The Potters could only hold Sunderland to a 1-1 draw despite their opposition having ten men for around an hour of the Stadium of Light contest but Pulis was delighted to have moved six points clear of the relegation zone with two matches remaining.
"We are pleased that we've got that point. That takes us to 41. There are a lot of teams down there this time around," he told Sky Sports 1.
"I'm amazed it isn't sorted out yet. It's one of those funny seasons. It seems to have happened at all levels, not just the Premier League.
"The players are coming with the right attitude. Their spirit was fantastic. When you go down to 10 men, you had to battle away. They had nothing to lose and we had everything to lose."
He added: "You've got to give Sunderland credit. They displayed a lot of spirit and a lot of togetherness."
