Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is ready to drop his route one approach for the Premiership.
Head groundsman Andy Jackson, who is overseeing the close-season work, said: "The gaffer wants the pop-up sprinklers put in the centre of the pitch so he's got the option of watering the surface before a game and even at half-time.
"It speeds up the pitch, so speeds up the play because I think he's looking to play a more passing game in the Premier League."
Such a policy will fly in the face of those assuming Stoke will lean exclusively on a more direct and physical style back in the top flight.
