Stoke boss Pulis: Owen here to score goals

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis says they'll be careful with Michael Owen as they introduce to first team action.

Pulis says he will not give Owen 90 minutes yet - for his own good.

The Potters boss is wary of throwing Owen in too soon, due to the former England striker's injury record.

Pulis said: "We'll go carefully with Michael and prepare him right. He's still off playing 90 minutes. We'll give him more game time the more he trains.

"We wouldn't look to start him yet and that's as much for his benefit as ours.

"We don't want to over-burden him at the beginning when you can pick up injuries.

"Because of what Michael has done in the game, he will always be the centre of attention. We want him scoring goals."
