Stoke boss Pulis: Newcastle striker Ameobi was good while here

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis was happy with Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi's efforts when he was on-loan at the Brit.

An impressive debut at Sheffield Wednesday was quickly forgotten when injury struck to leave the likes of Mamade Sidibe and Ricardo Fuller picking up the baton and Ameobi on the bench in the closing games.

"He did smashing for us, but did have an injury," Pulis recalled to The Sentinel.

"Mama got back in the team with Ric and did exceptionally well.

"I only had him for three months, but thought he was a great kid. Very talented, but a really nice person with it. Shola and Leon Best have got an opportunity to show what they can do between now and the end of the season now that Carroll has gone."
