Stoke City boss Tony Pulis believes Ryan Shawcross can develop into a major Premiership player.

Pulis said of the former Manchester United defender: "He has had to fight to get in and, in the last couple of games, he has done brilliantly.

"The important thing now is that he keeps that going, doesn't take his foot off the pedal and pushes on rather than thinking he has arrived.

"His attitude has been brilliant. He is the future of the football club. He will be a top player for Stoke City, but he will have his ups and downs."
