Stoke City boss Tony Pulis was delighted with Matt Etherington's performance in defeat at Tottenham.
Pulis also expressed his surprise at Etherington's continued exclusion from the England picture after seeing the left winger net a brilliant individual effort against his former club.
"For me, Matty is as good as any left-sided player in the Premier," he stated to The Sentinel. "How he doesn't get recognition I don't know. But there we are.
"We've worked a lot behind the scenes to make sure he's really comfortable with himself and his football... and he's worth his weight in gold."
