Stoke City boss Tony Pulis was pleased with Jonathan Woodgate's performance in victory over Everton.
Pulis admitted that his decision to select Jonathan Woodgate at right-back might have surprised supporters, but does not mind making bold choices.
"You always put yourself on the spot when you pick the team," he said.
"I have been a manager a long time and I respect the opinion of supporters because they have been supporting the club a lot longer than I have been here.
"But everything I do is for this football club, not anybody else.
"I wanted to make us a bit more solid away from home and to get a win here is first class.
"Everton put you under a lot of pressure. They play good football through the pitch and are always asking questions.
"But our two keepers were brilliant and the 10 outfield players worked their socks off."
