Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has defended summer signing Michael Owen.

Owen is hoping to resurrect his career at the place where it all started for him as a teen sensation.

Potters boss Pulis said: "Michael's been a terrific signing for us, great ability, top player and a good lad as well.

"He's hungry, he needs to play and he needs to get in the team and score a few goals, but I think Michael is keen to do that.

"I'll hopefully get him involved somehow at Palace."
