Stoke boss Pulis admits Redknapp tipped him into Gudjohnsen

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis admitted that Tottenham's Harry Redknapp told him to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen from Monaco.

The Iceland international has joined the Potters on a season-long loan and Pulis said it was Redknapp's assurance that made him work hard to push the deal through.

"Harry told me he is a top player. Had they not got four top-drawer strikers he would have taken him," Pulis said.

Gudjohnsen spent a few months on loan with Spurs last season and impressed during his stay.
