Stoke boss Lambert: We're still not down. Diouf...?

Stoke City boss Paul Lambert insists they can still stay up after their 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The manager is refusing to give up on that remote possibility - despite the evident disappointment of seeing another two points slip through Stoke's fingers after Mame Diouf missed a chance for 2-0 just before half-time.

Lambert, who comforted Diouf at the break, said: “We have to win. We have to go to Anfield and get a result. Palace, get a result. Swansea, get a result.

“Until somebody tells us mathematically we can't do it, we won't give up. That's important as a team, that we never give up.

“We got off to a perfect start, looked great and obviously the big moment was Mame's chance, which was huge for us, but I cannot fault Mame Diouf for commitment and giving us everything.

“I think he needed that (arm round the shoulders). I would never criticise any player if they gave me everything and Mame has certainly done that since I came here.

"He never made any decision and got caught in between and it maybe affected his game from there.

“Moritz (Baeur) puts it there for him to hit it first time and probably got caught hesitating."
