Stoke City boss Paul Lambert dropped Erik Pieters for defeat to Everton for a disciplinary lapse.

The Sun says Pieters didn't feature for Stoke in yesterday's defeat as he had been out partying the night before the fixture.

The Dutch star had been out in Manchester on Friday evening and was dropped as a result of his extra curricular activities.

While no images surfaced of Pieters drinking before the fixture against Everton, he was pictured arriving at a VIP launch party in Hale, Cheshire with his reality star wife Nermina Pieters Mekic.

Paul Lambert wanted to enforce the club's rules, whereby they're forbidden from entering drinking establishments 48 hours before kick off.
