Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has made it vehemently clear that captain Ryan Shawcross is off limits to any rival clubs.
The 27-year old centre-back has been linked with a move to old club Manchester United recently but Hughes insists that his prime defender is going nowhere anytime soon.
"I'm not sure where that (Man Utd rumour) originated from - I think somebody told me it might have come from America at some point," said Hughes ahead of the weekend's meeting with Swansea City.
"There's been no contact and I don't expect there to be any, and we wouldn't encourage any contact anyway.
"Ryan is very settled here, he is the captain of the club and we have no intention of allowing him to leave.
"He's a big part of what we want to do in the future."
