Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is eager to secure Peter Crouch to a new deal.

Former Stoke boss Tony Pulis might launch a bid to sign him for West Bromwich Albion in the January window.

"We have been in talks for a long time," Hughes admitted to The Sentinel, "and we need to put something in front of him.

"That makes sense to him and to us, and I would anticipate that happening some time this week.

"There is an obvious connection (with Pulis) and so people will do their sums and make five.

"We want to make Peter happy with a contract for the next two or three years, or however long he's here."
