Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says skipper Ryan Shawcross deserves an England recall.
Hughes has told Roy Hodgson to forget that horror display against Sweden and judge him on this season's performances instead.
Hughes said: "The view of Ryan is shaped by how he was asked to play in the past but he has ability and I think he is showing that.
"He played in one international against Sweden and he was thrown into the mix when Ibrahimovic was on fire and maybe that might be part of it. Ryan has shown an improvement in getting on the ball in the time we have been working with him. We believe that will continue to improve as the season goes on."
