Stoke City are planning a new deal for Peter Crouch.

Crouch's contract runs out next summer, but the Potters have the option of an extra year on the former England striker.

Potters boss Mark Hughes said: “We can invoke that option if we want to.

“We want him to stay and I'm sure that will be the case. When we bring Pete on, all of a sudden you see another big centre-half warming up for the opposition. There's a lot of extra 'traffic' on the sideline!

“He does have that effect on opposition teams."
