Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says that foreign managers might sometimes forget the English custom of a handshake at the completion of a game.
Watford manager Walter Mazzarri went straight down the tunnel following his side's 1-0 defeat to Stoke at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
However, shortly after, the Italian did apologise to Hughes for not shaking his hand at the full-time whistle according to the Potters boss.
"I think he just forgot for a brief moment what we do over here, win, lose or draw," Hughes told Sky Sports.
"In fairness he's come and apologised. I think maybe he was told to."
Hughes added: "It is something maybe the foreign managers don't always do and they need reminding it is something we do over here.
"Mind you, British managers are in a minority these days so maybe we shouldn't expect it.
"It was an emotional game and I think he was a bit emotional afterwards. He needed to be reminded, and I've shaken hands with him since."
