Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is eyeing West Brom striker Saido Berahino.
The Telegraph says Hughes has identified the England under-21 international as a target for this month and is considering an offer that will break the club's transfer record.
Stoke are keen to recruit a proven 'No. 9' to improve their attacking options after scoring only 21 Premier League goals this season and Berahino, 22, is emerging as a genuine option.
Xherdan Shaqiri became Stoke's record buy in August for a fee of £12 million and any deal for Berahino will have to top that, with West Brom turning down an offer worth a potential £23 million from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
